OMD EM 5 Mark II Burst Mode Setting to Fn Button
Jul 24, 2016
I'm using this camera since roughly about 6 months and I'm very much pleased with it. I find it a bit intriguing to manipulate with the control buttons and customisations that I could do with this camera.
Recently I had been to a Theme park and I took my OMD with me. Though with the help of the SCP, I could change the settings that I wanted, I would like to know if there is a way to assign one of the Fn buttons to the burst mode settings? I often land myself in situations where I had to use burst mode. So I was thinking if there is a possibility to set this to a Fn button? Right now the Fn3 button and the Ok button are set to show the SCP. I would rather prefer the Fn3 button to toggle between burst modes instead of me having to go through the SCP each and every time. Any ideas on how to do this? I do not see this presented as an option when I tried to assign the Fn3 button.

The drive (burst) mode gets saved with a MySet so perhaps you could program the F3 button to call up a MySet with your desired burst mode?

How would that work? I want to use the Fn3 button to just trigger the burst mode and I'm not sure how setting the MySet would help me with that. Could you please be kind enough to explain that a bit more in detail?

Say that the MySet that you plan to assign to Fn3 is MySet 3, so load it from the standard menu, set the drive mode to burst, save the current settings as MySet 3.
From now on, anytime you load MySet 3 you'll be on burst mode.

1) press OK to see your shooting parameters
2) move to drive mode -> set to desired burst mode
3) Menu -> Camera 1 -> Reset / Myset -> Set to Myset x
3) Menu -> Gear -> Button/Dial/Lever -> Button Function (say Fcn 3) -> select button -> set to use Myset X
To invoke burst mode , press Button function (Fcn 3 in this case) you configure and save
